AZIENDA AGRICOLA
ESTATE INTRODUCTION
Our enterprise had its beginnings five years ago, with the planting of four vineyards, which yielded their first fruit in the fourth growing year, 2011.  We adopted all of the practices that make it possible to produce ultra-premium grapes and wine. We chose a vineyard density of 6,000 vines per hectare, and vertically trained the vines to a moderate height of 1.7m and a horizontal cordon of 70cm, utilising both the Guyot and spurred cordon pruning systems. We planted three white grapes, each distinctive for its aromatic qualities and tactile impression: malvasia istriana, sauvignon blanc, and chardonnay, as well as a red grape, refosco dal peduncolo rosso. The first and last are local native varieties; the other, though widely planted internationally, produces great wines in Friuli, recognised in Italy and across the globe for their fine expressiveness. The winery is located in Moraro, a small town surrounded by better-known towns, such as San Lorenzo Isontino, Capriva del Friuli, Cormons, Mariano del Friuli, and Farra d’Isonzo, all wellknown for wineries with world-wide reputations. We are in the province of Gorizia and the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. We chose to give our wine label a simple yet striking look, with high-quality paper and a spare style. The logo shows: a grapevine supported by a mulberry tree, a long-traditional local method of vine training; the cru vineyard (or relevant toponym) of the wine; and the commune where the vineyard grows that yields the wine. The stylised Burgundy bottle, called the Goriziana, was created by the Isonzo wine Consorzio.   The grapes are processed into wine entirely on our premises, utilising equipment that maintains the characteristics of the high-quality grapes grown in the vineyards. The wines are stored in climate-controlled spaces until shipping. The white wines receive at least six months’ bottle-ageing, while the reds receive twelve months’ maturation in barrique followed by a further two in the bottle. The wines can be safely cellared for a minimum of five years.
The Renata Pizzulin winery cultivates its vineyards with profound respect for each individual element   of the process. Environmental factors, such as weather and soils, must be expressed by the grape variety with no external constraints; the winegrower must be the interpreter that ensures the expressiveness of these elements. Thanks to long experience and expertise, all of this coalesces into the wines of Renata Pizzulin. The vineyards are designed for low yield per vine and high density of vines per hectare. These characteristics, along with use of the Guyot and spurred cordon training systems, ensure that the wines eloquently express the wealth of variables that distinguish the vineyards. The winemaking process has as its goal transferring into the wine all of what the vineyards   and growing year have gifted us, its procedures designed to preserve even the smallest sensory detail.
